Montreal – Walter Surface Technologies Canada, a supplier of surface treatment technologies, has announced that Montreal-based photographer Claude-Simon Langlois has won the 2013 Applied Arts Award in the Corporate Photography category for his outstanding images of the innovative metalworking and finishing disc products in action as featured in the 2013 Walter Canada products catalogue.
Langlois is an award-winning professional photographer selected by Walter to artfully contrast the harsh, physical world of Canadian welding, metal fabricating and finishing shops with the sensual, soft world of creative photography in the most recent Walter Canada catalogue. Langlois visited shops in the Ontario and Quebec area — including Cornwall, ON, Trois-Rivières, QC, Joliette, QC, and Saint-Polycarpe, QC — to capture the striking behind-the-scenes images of workers using the high performance Walter products in their everyday operations and workflow. The award-winning visuals underscore the authenticity of Walter customers and celebrate the extreme pride and dedication of these industry craftsmen at work.
“Within the 2013 Walter Canada catalogue, we wished to accurately portray our industry-leading products in action and in a clear, vivid and compelling way. We are extremely delighted for Claude-Simon’s Applied Arts Award for his stellar work that faithfully captures the vibrancy and realism of Walter customers in their everyday environment,” says Stephanie Quinn, marketing director at Walter Surface Technologies Canada. “We thank Claude-Simon for his fantastic photographic work and also thank our amazing Walter customers for allowing us behind the scenes to show the world the excellent work they do in using our unique, innovative products.”
The Applied Arts Awards are one of the industry’s most prestigious recognitions of creative excellence and are presented annually by Canada’s Applied Arts Magazine, with over 20 countries participating. Langlois’ winning work featuring Walter customers in action represents some of the very best photography produced internationally over the past year. The winning entries will be displayed in the May/June 2013 issue of the magazine and at http://www.appliedartsmag.com.
