St. John’s, NL – There’s been another accident aboard the Hibernia offshore oil platform. The agency that oversees the industry says a fire broke out Saturday in a main power generator.

The Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board says the generator had to be shut down. The fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured.

Earlier in the weekend, two pieces of steel grating fell more than four metres to the platform’s deck. Again, no one was hurt.

And a couple of weeks ago, a worker on the platform narrowly missed being struck by a metal rod that fell 15 metres.
