Seneca Falls, NY – ITT Goulds Pumps has announced an online quiz aimed at raising awareness of the worldwide industrial pump business and generating company donations to teach first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) around the world.
Spotlighting pumps as the ‘heart of industry’, ITT Goulds Pumps has structured the promotion to benefit a global heart-health program that teaches first aid, including the recommended method for hands-only CPR.
The World of Pumps Quiz begins today and runs for 20 weeks, ending on April 1, 2012. Immediately following the end of the quiz, on Pump Appreciation Day on April 10, 2012, (an international celebration of pumps as the heart of industry conceived by Goulds Pumps), the company will make a donation for each correct answer to the global Emergency Cardiovascular Care Program, which is supported by the American Heart Association and its global partners. For adults who suffer sudden cardiac arrest, receiving bystander-administered CPR can double or even triple the chances of survival.
New company is corporate spinoff
“This fun quiz is one way that ITT Goulds Pumps is calling attention to the important role that pumps play in modern life, and to our new company, which resulted from the three-way ITT corporate spinoff on October 31, 2011,” said Robert J. Pagano Jr., president of the ITT Industrial Process business, which includes ITT Goulds Pumps.
“As part of the quiz, we are aligning ourselves with worldwide heart health, because our products are the functional heart of industry. As people take the quiz over the next few months, they also will learn that our donation will help saves lives by enabling people around the world to learn the proper steps for CPR.”
Over the 20 weeks of the World of Pumps Quiz, participants can answer up to 10 questions — a new one is added every two weeks. Question topics range from pump applications to pump technology and Goulds Pumps around the world.
To enter the quiz, participants can go to www.worldofpumpsquiz.com. Once they answer the first question correctly, quiz-takers can sign up to receive automatic notification when the next question is posted.
