Hensall, ON — Industrial Drive Service Inc. (IDS) was recently presented with the Outstanding Technical Achievement Award by the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).

“IDS has designed, engineered and sold a unique motor control system to a major gold mine operation in Peru,” explains IDS president Daryl Keys, “where this technology controls the motor that hoists the mined minerals from an altitude of 13,000 ft above sea level. Companies benefit from this technology because it provides electrical power back into the distribution grid through the ‘Active Front End Technology’. The controller becomes a generator of power during part of the process.”

“At a more recent site in Manitoba, we’ve applied this same unique solution to control a 1,500-hp motor for hoisting the mined minerals to the surface,” says Keys. This small Ontario company has successfully competed with global companies for many years. Industrial Drive Service has been designing and commissioning drive systems for mining worldwide since 1988.
