Toronto, ON — The next Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA) Ontario Chapter annual general meeting and trade show takes place January 22-23, 2010, at the Metropolitan Hotel Toronto.


Sid Seymour, the chapter’s secretary, reminds members that reservations for the hotel must be made directly with the Metropolitan by Dec. 22, 2009 (call 1-800-668-6600).



On Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, the meeting runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sessions include:


Pump Curves/Applications, Installation & Troubleshooting, a course presented by Gene Vogel, EASA International’s pump and vibration specialist; a Customer Service Seminar; and the EASA Trade Show. Seymour noted that $2,000 in vendor-sponsored giveaways are to be drawn throughout the tradeshow.


On Saturday, Jan. 23, from 8:00 a.m. to noon, the Pump Curves/Applications, Installation & Troubleshooting course continues. From 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., the Ontario Chapter will hold its Annual General Meeting, with David Griffin, EASA’s international chairman, as the guest speaker.


Lunch follows, and the Trade Show opens again, running from noon until 3 p.m. The evening festivities include a dinner and dance featuring New Hollywood.


Gene Vogel’s course will provide the practical knowledge service centre personnel need to address customers’ pump related motor issues, and the broader opportunities for pump maintenance, system optimization and energy savings.


The course, Communications and Service Excellence for Front Line Staff, is being presented by Janelle Van Halst of One Particular Harbor. She has been a faculty member of the Canadian Management Centre since 2001 and has delivered more than 70 workshops to more than 2,000 learners in the area of communication skills, sales skills, sales management, leadership and general management. This workshop is designed for order desk and customer service personnel and will be focused on getting the most out of front line staff.
