Calgary, AB – FT Services recently successfully completed a significant turnaround, also referred to as a planned outage, at Suncor Energy’s oil sands site near Fort McMurray, AB. The planned outage was completed in 18 days, two days ahead of schedule, under budget and without any lost time injuries.

As part of an integrated team with Suncor Energy, FT Services provided project management, subcontractor management and maintenance execution services to the Plant 25 turnaround.

FT Services president and CEO, Andy Mackintosh, said: “The collaboration between FT Services and Suncor Energy on this important turnaround reinforces our ‘one team’ approach, which continues to yield ongoing positive results as we jointly strive for operational excellence.”

Suncor Energy, Canada’s largest energy company, is preparing for its next major turnaround in 2010 and FT Services, its alliance partner, is supporting management of the integrated turnaround execution model. This will include the participation of multiple parties responsible for specific portions of the work.

FT Services delivered its first major turnaround in 2008 in addition to numerous planned outages as part of an annual major events calendar. FT Services was originally awarded an ongoing five-year contract with Suncor Energy in 2007 to provide maintenance services, sustaining projects, subcontractor management and turnaround services at Suncor Energy’s oil sands facilities in Fort McMurray and its refinery in Sarnia, ON.

In May 2008, the contract was extended for a further year until 2012. In total, the company’s contract with Suncor Energy Inc. is worth C$1.1 billion.
