Chicago, IL — Recognizing the challenge members may be facing in funding training programs during these recessionary times, the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) giving each and every member special access to a PT Interactive Online course of their choice at no cost to the member company.

The newest training tool from PTDA, PT Interactive Online combines the knowledge of the well-respected Power Transmission Handbook and the video and graphics of the Product Training DVD Series to deliver a multimedia, interactive product training experience. The content capitalizes on PTDA’s recognized expertise as a provider of comprehensive training on maintenance, application, selection and standards for power transmission/motion control products.

Structured as a series of 14 independent, product-specific courses, these Web-based courses allow any employer to design a customized training program for each employee wherever there is access to the Internet.  Each course is two to three hours long and can be taken in any sequence. Using a multimedia format including text, graphics, video and quizzes, PT Interactive Online maximizes comprehension of the materials by allowing the employee to learn at his or her own pace.

Luke Karnas, account representative with PTDA member Power/mation Inc. (Saint Paul, Minn.), took advantage of the free course offer. Karnas recently completed the PT Interactive Online course on motors. “I took the motors course because I wanted to gain a deeper knowledge of the subject while also evaluating how relevant the information would be to my colleagues at Power/mation,” said Karnas. “The videos used were helpful, and the information led me to a better understanding of the differences between various types of motors. I would recommend this course to other people in my office.”

The free course offer for PTDA members expires on December 31, 2009. For more information about PT Interactive Online or additional PTDA member benefits, visit www.ptda.org.
