Mississauga, ON — Petro-Canada has released a suite of products from its current line-up that possess environmentally-friendly characteristics. The new EcoSia line will make it easier for lubricant customers to identify those products that meet their environmental goals without compromising performance.
The product offering spans a diverse range of applications and customer segments, including, but not limited to, lubricants and fluids for forestry, agriculture, drilling, mining, construction and general manufacturing.
“We developed the EcoSia line because there was a need in the marketplace to identify those lubricant products we manufacture that have environmentally-friendly attributes,” stated Randy Koenig, vice-president, lubricants, Petro-Canada. “With increasing enthusiasm and need for environmentally-friendly lubricants, we also wanted our customers to be aware of the fact that many of our products, that they already use, are environmentally responsible without compromising product performance.”
Petro-Canada’s EcoSia line meets the following criteria which are based on recognized industry tests:
– Inherently or readily biodegradable[i] (based on component or product data obtained using the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) 301B testing guideline, or OECD 306 testing guideline (Biodegradability in Seawater).
– Not environmentally toxic (based on United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals)[ii]
The EcoSia line-up includes products from many of Petro-Canada’s existing brands, including, but not limited to, Environ hydraulic fluids, Puredrill drilling mud base fluids, Calflo specialty heat transfer fluids, select Purity FG food grade lubricants, Puretol white oils, select Compro compressor fluids, and Luminol electrical insulating fluids.
