Brussels, Belgium — The General Assembly of Members of the European Power Transmission Distributors Association (EPTDA) elected its new board of directors at the association’s 10-year anniversary annual convention in September in Brussels.


Manfred Beitel (WLB Antriebselemente Handelsgesellschaft mbH, Germany) took on the position of President for the next two years.Beitel was a past PTDA (Power Transmission Distributors Association) member before he joined the EPTDA in 2001.



“I am keen on leading this successful association into its new decade. After 10 years of existence, EPTDA can be proud its exceptional development and growth. I trust that, together with the board of directors and the continuous support of our members, EPTDA has a bright future ahead.”


EPTDA’s leadership team for 2009 includes David Bassas Del Rey (Tecnotrans, Spain) – first vice-president; John Westerling (S&N Osakeyhtiö, Finland) – treasurer; and Karl Weindinger (ContiTech Antriebssysteme GmbH, Germany) – Manufacturer Council chair. Directors at large include David Harrow (Godiva Bearings, UK); Henrik Göpert (AB Sverull, Sweden); Mehmet Ali Ülgen (Silkar Otomotiv Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., Turkey); and Dick Winkelhuis (Spruit Transmissies, The Netherlands). Immediate past president is Roberto Cugnaschi.


Cugnaschi says the EPTDA board of directors is confident that 2009 will be a challenging yet a thriving year. “EPTDA aims to stand as the voice of the PT/MC industry and offers a unique, strong and steady platform for networking, exchanging ideas and seeking support in difficult times.”


“EPTDA constantly strives to develop tangible and cost-saving benefits and activities for its members and streamline processes with its web-based applications.”


The association’s 2009 calendar of events includes the All Committees’ Days & Executive Development Seminar, March 26-28, 2009, in Malta; a joint EPTDA/PTDA pavilion at Hannover Fair, April 20-24, 2009, in Germany; and its 12th Annual Convention — themed ‘Excellence in Relationships’, September 23-25, 2009, in Rome, Italy.


As well, EPTDA will release the 2009 edition of its Blue Book membership directory.
