Toronto, ON — The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) reports that Canadian Auto Workers Union president Buzz Hargrove will deliver a keynote address on September 23, 2008, at the International Centre in Mississauga, ON. The often-controversial union leader’s speech will be a cornerstone event during SME’s Canadian Manufacturing Week, scheduled through September 25, 2008.
Canadian Manufacturing Week is a showcase of manufacturing technologies. SME Canada general manager Steve Prahalis stated, “Hargrove’s appearance will generate great interest as he truly is one of those thinkers at the forefront of Canadian manufacturing.”
The CAW’s national president since 1992, Hargrove will share his thoughts on such topics as how Canadian auto manufacturers need to adapt for survival, the next steps for Canada’s automotive manufacturing business, and above all, how the nation can remain an innovative manufacturing leader. Delegates will also discover his ideas on how manufacturers and labourers can work together to be more competitive.
