Burlington, ON — The SMRP Hamilton Chapter meeting on Jan. 30, 2008, was a night filled with practical advice and useful exchange of ideas that helped the association members to move ahead professionally in the maintenance and reliability field.
Larry Cote, CET, CLS, CMRP, past-chair, SMRP and a 30-year veteran in the industry, discussed Certification Schemes for Reliability & Non Destructive Testing (NDT) and some of the pros and cons of various certification schemes currently available to people working in maintenance, reliability and NDT occupations.
Geoff Generalovic, an electrician at ArcelorMittal Dofasco with 35 years experience, discussed practical applications of Infrared and Motor Testing in the Hot Mill. He had helped build an extensive PdM program and integrated the technologies with vibration testing and the company’s online ICAS monitoring system.
Derek Moore from Cargill’s Guelph, Ont., plant won the door prize of a digital camera, and it was presented to him by Glen Saevil, chapter chair.
The next meeting of the SMRP (Socity of Maintenance & Reliability Professionals) is the
