• Calgary-based Shell Canada launched next-generation Shell Tellus hydraulic oil, which can help companies reduce downtime and maximize productivity.

• Peter Baka joined Cleveland, OH-based Lincoln Electric as marketing communications manager • Roanoke, VA-based Meridium Inc., specializing in asset performance management (APM) software and consulting services, announced an agreement with Calgary-based Suncor Energy. The oil producer will implement Meridium APM software at its refinery in Denver, CO.

• Troy, OH-based Hobart Brothers Company recently celebrated its 90th anniversary. Hobart Brothers manufacturers welding filler metals marketed under the brand names of Tri-Mark, McKay, Hobart and Corex.

• Greater Sudbury Utilities launched the Landfill Gas Generation System, with representatives from the Ontario government, City of Greater Sudbury, Greater Sudbury Utilities, Toromont Energy and Friends of the Earth-Canada. The first of its kind in northern Ontario, the gas-generation plant at the Sudbury Landfill is an innovative initiative that captures methane gas from the municipal landfill to create electricity.

• Fulton, IL-based Drives Incorporated named Russ Chapman as a U.S. regional manager. The company has a service centre in Toronto.
