Toronto, ON — PTM Industries Inc., a supplier of motion control, drive and automation components, has completed the acquisition of Automation Supply Inc. (ASI). This move unites PTM’s national sales and distribution expertise with Automation Supply’s established history in pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical products, to deliver a ‘total solution’ package to both distributors and customers across Canada.

PTM will draw up product lines from ASI which are best suited for national representation at the distributor level. ASI gains access to a new portfolio of high quality mechanical product categories and the opportunity to provide its customer base an even broader array of industrial solutions.

ASI also benefits from PTM’s management systems and processes, allowing it to focus on business development and build on its strength in the supply of automation-related components within numerous consumer market segments.

“The synergies between our two companies have been growing for months. The addition of ASI to our corporate family is a significant step forward towards achieving our growth and development objectives”, said Robert Furneaux, president of PTM Industries Inc.

“With the rapid changes underway within the industrial distribution marketplace, our business model is the right strategy to meet the needs of all our valued partners,” he added.

“This new partnership with PTM is powerful. The combination of our specialized companies has already opened up tremendous opportunities for our distinct markets”, said Joseph Johnson, Automation Supply Inc.’s founder and former president. Johnson now leads the organization’s fluid power and electrical component growth initiatives as director of business development in these categories.

PTM’s headquarters and eastern distribution facility is located in Toronto, and it has a
western distribution facility in Calgary. It distributes brands such as Brewer, Cougar, Curtis Universal, Drives, Dura-Belt, DuraLink, Holz, Mitsuboshi / MBL, Ramsey, Stafford and Tol-O-Matic.

Automation Supply will continue to operate as a stand-alone subsidiary. Its office and main distribution facility is located in Kitchener, Ont. ASI distributes the following leading brands: AEG, Airtec, AirTAC, AirMax, Alpha, Autonics, Baco, Baldor, Bernstein, CC Comitronic, Devcon, Duplomatic, Edison, EEC, EIC, Euchner, FabInstall, Finder, Giovanzanna, ITC, Katko, Koganei, Leeson, LG, L&W, Larco, Pisco, Pizzato, Pneumation, PowerUp, SEW Eurodrive, Sirenna, Standard, Stanpro, Techspan, Thomas, Tslots, Topring, Universal and Vario.
