Las Vegas, NV — Education is a cornerstone of the show experience at IFPE, the International Exposition for Power Transmission, and the 2008 event will feature a new Innovation and Solutions Center to complement the show’s Technical Conference. IFPE 2008 will be held March 11-15, 2008, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

The new IFPE Innovation and Solutions Center will offer 19 free education sessions conducted on the show floor and with a focus on real-world solutions for current and future design applications. Topics are grouped into four major areas: ‘green’ solutions, innovative applications in the entertainment industry, fluid power solutions and motion control solutions now and in the future.

The green solutions track will offer attendees insights into renewable energy, hydraulic hybrid vehicles and system technologies, environmentally friendly fuels and the latest issues related to U.S. Tier 4 engine emission regulations.

Entertainment industry applications will spotlight Cirque du Soleil’s KA show. The show’s head of automation, James Tomlinson, will share a behind-the-scenes look at the production’s elaborate hydraulics, pneumatics and electronics set-up. A drawing for tickets to KA and backstage tour passes will be held after this session. Other sessions will cover industry technologies used in theme parks and movies.

Topics on fluid power solutions will cover mobile hydraulics, hydraulic fluids, hydraulic braking and steering, hose routing, seal designs, contamination control and the future of fluid power. Presentations on motion-control solutions will highlight electro-hydraulics and motion control for mobile equipment hydraulics.

Several segments will unveil new research taking place at the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power. This new engineering research centre is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and is the result of efforts led by industry leaders and IFPE co-owner National Fluid Power Association (NFPA).

IFPE 2008 attendees can also take advantage of the educational programming of the renowned IFPE Technical Conference being held in conjunction with the show, as well as education offered at the co-located Conexpo-Con/Agg 2008 exposition.
