Toronto, ON — Machinery & Equipment MRO is co-sponsoring a new S.A.F.E. Engineering Inc. seminar, Safety in Industrial Establishments Today and Tomorrow: IEC 61508 (SIL Standard) — A Road Map for the Future, to take place Thurs. Oct. 25, 2007, from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
This comprehensive seminar, covering the SIL safety standard IEC 61508 and its impact on industrial machinery and equipment, takes place at the Schneider Training Institute Theatre, 19 Waterman Ave., Toronto, ON M4B 1Y2. It will be led by Simon Fridlyand, a regular contributor of the Safety File column to MRO Magazine.
The cost of the seminar is $240 per person (plus GST). A continental breakfast is included.

Seminar leader Simon Fridlyand has been a professional engineer in Ontario since 1982. He is the president of S.A.F.E. Engineering Inc., a company specializing in Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSRs), plant audits, machine and robot guarding, process safety issues such as fire and explosion safety, hazardous location classification, fire and building code compliance, fire code audits and health and safety training.
Fridlyand has actively participated in the workings of various standards and code committees such as NFPA, CSA, ULC, ASME, and the Ontario Building Code.
His teaching experience includes courses at the University of Toronto, Ryerson University and many seminars sponsored by the Plant Engineering & Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC), Industrial Accident Prevention Association (IAPA), and industry. Fridlyand has also published many articles in industry journals, including MRO Magazine and The Canadian Institute.
