ANN ARBOR, MI — NSK Corporation, a member of the motion and control industry, has been selected by the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) for 2006/2007 as one of the top 10% of the biggest 2,500 global companies in terms economic, environmental and social performance. That makes NSK one of only 318 companies from 23 countries around the world to meet this standard. It is the sixth year the company has been so named.

Sustainability is a business approach that creates long-term shareholder value by embracing opportunities and managing risks deriving from economic, environmental and social developments.

Corporate sustainability leaders achieve long-term shareholder value by gearing their strategies and management to harness the market’s potential for sustainability products and services, while at the same time successfully reducing and avoiding sustainability costs and risks.

Companies are assessed in critical areas of strategies, financial indicators, customer loyalty and product innovation, and human resources.

Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are the first global indexes tracking the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. Based on the cooperation of Dow Jones Indexes (USA) and the SAM Group (Switzerland) they provide asset managers with reliable and objective benchmarks to manage sustainability portfolios. Currently 56 DJSI licenses are held by asset managers in 14 countries to manage a variety of financial products including active and passive funds, certificates and segregated accounts. In total, these licensees presently manage over 4 billion EURO based on the DJSI.

“Increasingly, investors around the world are looking for the long-term growth and security of investing in companies the follow best practices with regards to sustainability”, observed Tom Rouse, president of NSK Corporation. “We are very proud to have been selected as part of the sustainability index for the sixth consecutive year as it demonstrates to our employees, our customers and our shareholders the strength and long-term vision of NSK.”
