Calgary, AB — The fifth annual Shutdowns Superconference has been organized by the Canadian Institute for Dec. 5-6, 2006, at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Calgary, Alta.
Conducting efficient turnarounds is an incredibly expensive business. Realistically assessing work scope, dealing with skilled labour shortages, managing contractor relationships, attaining reliable parts and ensuring site safety are all now more than ever huge challenges when it comes to containing costs and avoiding budget overruns.
Maintenance professionals want to maximize shutdown efficiencies but they want to do so safely and responsibly. The Canadian Institute’s annual Shutdowns Superconference will help them balance the latest cost-cutting initiatives with prudent maintenance practices to avoid unplanned outages.
Industry faculty speaking at the conference will include representatives from Canfor Northwood Pulp Mill, Catalyst Paper, SemCAMS, Halliburton Energy Services, Imperial Oil Ltd., Syncrude Canada Ltd., Ontario Power Generation, TransAlta Utilities Corp., Automark Technical Systems LLC, Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP, JMC Consulting Ltd. and Porter Contracting Services Inc.
There also will be a night of fun and games at a Casino Cocktail Reception on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
