Niagara Falls, ON — Mark your calendars, make your reservations, and help to spread the word about the 28th annual Ontario Bearing and Power Transmission Resort Weekend, taking place Sept. 22-24, 2006, in Niagara Falls, Ont.
Not only is it planned to be a great weekend of golf and other activities for the participants, any surplus funds are donated to charities or used to support needy causes within the industry.
The weekend is open to those who work in, or are retired from, the bearing, power transmission or related business, as well as their spouses and other family members.
Individuals from manufacturers, distributors or agents, be they owners, presidents, truck drivers, sales people, administrative or others are welcome to attend. This Ontario-based event has in the past attracted people from other parts of Canada and the U.S.
Many of the details concerning this year’s event, including downloadable entry forms, sponsorship forms and links to other relevant websites, can be found on the group’s new website at www.obpt.ca.
For those choosing to make this a weekend event, Friday night is open to give attendees an opportunity to visit with friends or go out for dinner, or to take advantage of the time to see some of the many sights the Niagara area has to offer.
The organizing committee has blocked off a number of rooms, which are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, at the Best Western Cairn Croft Hotel at 6400 Lundy’s Lane. You can visit the hotel’s website at www.cairncroft.com and reserve a room by calling 1-800-263-2551.
The Niagara Parks Commission’s Stanley-Thompson-designed Whirlpool Golf Course (www.niagaraparksgolf.com/whirlpool), ranked among Canada’s top 100 courses, will be the host course for this year’s event. A four-person scramble format will provide some relief to golfers on this somewhat challenging golf course.
Golf starts at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23. Arrive at the course half an hour prior to your tee time to arrange for your cart and meet with your scramble team members. This is not a shotgun, so if you are driving in for the day, let the organizers know and they will try to provide you with one of the later tee times.
Following golf, a banquet and dance — with Dominoes Disc Jockey Service providing the music — will take place at the Cairn Croft, beginning with cocktails at 6:30 p.m.
Many manufacturers have suggested a number of ways of encouraging greater distributor participation in the event, with the most common suggestion of discounted rates to distributor participants, an idea that has been implemented for this year’s event.
