Chicago, IL — The Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) has released its November 2005 trend data for distributors and manufacturers of power transmission/motion control (PT/MC) products.

Canadian distributors’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC products increased 11.1% as compared to sales for January through November 2004. Sales rose 7.5% over the previous month and went up 5.0% as compared to November 2004.

Days sales in accounts receivables decreased 8.6% over October 2005 and remained flat over the same month last year. Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 7.9 in November 2005, as compared to 8.1 in November 2004.

For November, the confidence level of Canadian distributors rose to 6.5 from 6.3 in October 2005 on a 10-point scale.

In November, U.S. distributors’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC products rose 10.8% as compared to sales for January through November 2004. Sales remained flat over October and were up 12.3% as compared to November 2004.

Days sales in accounts receivables decreased 1.8% as compared to October 2005 and declined 3.2% as compared to the same month last year. Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 7.9 in November 2005 and in November 2004.

For November, the confidence level of U.S. distributors rose to 6.8 from 6.5 in October on a 10-point scale.

Canadian manufacturers’ sales of PT/MC products increased 3.8% as compared to sales for January through November in 2004. Sales rose 13.1% over the previous month and were up 9.0% as compared to November 2004. As compared to October, sales of mounted bearings, unmounted bearings, variable speed drives, gear products, mechanical drive systems and other PT products increased. Sales of clutches and brakes, and shaft couplings decreased.

For November, the confidence level of Canadian manufacturers remained flat at 5.2 on a 10-point scale.

In November, U.S. manufacturers’ sales of PT/MC increased 10.7% as compared to sales for January through November 2004. Sales decreased 2.3% over the previous month but were up 8.8% as compared to November 2004. As compared to October, sales of variable speed drives and gear products increased. Sales of mounted bearings, unmounted bearings, standard industrial motors, positioning systems/linear motion products, mechanical drive systems and other PT products, clutches and brakes, and shaft couplings decreased.

Year-to-date orders of PT/MC products from U.S. manufacturers grew 12.3% as compared to 2004. November orders were up 4.0% over October and increased 2.1% as compared to November 2004. Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 10.6 in November 2005 as compared to 9.9 in November 2004.

For November, the confidence level of U.S. manufacturers remained flat at 5.6 on a 10-point scale.
