Shanghai, China — Bearing 2003, the International Bearing Industry Exhibition for China, is a new trade show taking place in Shanghai, China, Dec. 14-15, 2003. The event will include both standard and non-standard bearings as well as bearing processing equipment, accessories, instruments and meters.

Taking place at the Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Centre, the event includes FAG, INA, Koyo, NSK and NTN among its major commerical sponsors. Other international exhibitors include Dodge, Emerson Power Transmission, Fafnir, Lovejoy, McGill, Morse, Rexroth, RHP, Timken and Tsubaki.

The show is noteworthy because China is now one of the largest bearing manufacturers in the world. In 2000, the total output of the industry was 2,200 million sets, and sales income accounted for US$2.7 billion, from which US$670 million came from exports.

With the commencement of China’s Tenth Five-Year Plan, in which various industrial projects are being fast-tracked, as well as the opening up of the West Region, and China’s accession to the WTO, the bearing industry is expected to continue its rapid growth.

International Bearing Industry Exhibition for China is a specialized sub-event within the China International Machine Components Exhibition. In 2001, the Exhibition occupied an exhibition ground of 12,000 sq m, and attracted over 400 exhibitors and 60,000 visitors.

The event is organized by Business & Industrial Trade Fairs Ltd. (B&I) of Hong Kong, one of Asia’s largest exhibition organizers
