Toronto, ON — The annual Sergio Guy Memorial Award, presented by the Plant Engineering & Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC), was awarded this week to Brian Malloch.
Malloch is only the sixth recipient of the award, which is presented annually to an engineering and maintenance practitioner who has made a significant contribution to the profession and PEMAC.
Malloch received the 2003 Award at a reception hosted by Federated Press and PEMAC at the Creating a 21st Century Maintenance Organization conference held Oct. 24-25, 2003, at the Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel in Toronto. The conference is produced by Federated Press of Montreal and sponsored and endorsed by PEMAC. Conference director for the two-day event was Lise Ponton.
The Sergio Guy Memorial Award is a way of remembering a former member and executive of PEMAC who made a significant contribution to the maintenance profession and the association. PEMAC president David Taggart spoke for several minutes at the reception about Guy, an affable maintenance practitioner who died early in his career, six years ago.
Malloch is manager, facilities support, Goodrich Landing Gear Div., Goodrich Corp., in Oakville, Ont., where he is responsible for production equipment maintenance, facilities maintenance and plant engineering.
Also in attendance at the award ceremony were four of five previous winners of the award: Colin Carrington, Steve Gahbauer, Andrew Jardine and Brian Whitehead. Unable to attend was David Berger. Carrington, who was chair of the Selection Committee, presented the award this year.
