Montreal, QC — Air Liquide Canada, a supplier of industrial gases, will close its plant in Boucherville, Que., as part of a restructuring of its operations.
High production costs for industrial gas equipment and welding wire resulted in the decision. The plant will be closed Sept. 12, putting over 60 people out of work. It plans to subcontract the manufacturing of the products to three companies in Ontario and the United States.
Air Liquide Canada is the Montreal-based subsidiary of Air Liquide, a French multinational company that supplies industrial and medical gases. The Canadian unit and its subsidiaries employ 2,200 people.
