Vancouver, BC – The Vancouver Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) facility of Toyota Canada Inc., Scarborough, Ont., hosted the Canadian Materials Handling and Distribution Society’s (CMHDS) 7th annual Forklift Rally March 29, 2003.

The rally, a skills competition for the materials handling, distribution and logistics industry, involved three phases: a written test to assess overall knowledge of materials handling and lift trucks, a pre-trip inspection to demonstrate all the points to be considered for safe operation and finally, an obstacle course phase, in which participants manoeuvred through a demanding course in a test of skill and dexterity.

Three divisions were offered in 2003 counterbalance, reach truck and walkie/rider (power pallet jack) with $1,800 in prize money awarded.

"I would like to extend a thank you to all of the volunteers that came out to judge and assist, the Toyota PDC for hosting this great event, and all of the participants of the trade show," said CMHDS president Dan Beer. "All of these factors coming together made this event an unqualified success."
