New publisher, associate publisher, named for MRO magazine group

Don Mills, ON – Nick Naunheimer has been appointed Publisher of Machinery & Equipment MRO, Canadian Electrical Equipment News (CEEN), Industrial Lubrication and MRO-esource.com, effective May 12, 2003. Also, Bill Roebuck, founding Editor of these properties, has been appointed Associate Publisher of Machinery & Equipment MRO, effective immediately.

The magazines and website are properties of the Business Information Group of Hollinger Canadian Newspapers L.P. of Toronto.

For the past five-and-a-half years, Nick has been with Canadian Consulting Engineer (CCE), most recently as its Publisher. It is the only national engineering publication in Canada.

Nick is returning to Machinery & Equipment MRO, as he was its advertising sales representative in 1997. “I’m excited to be coming back and working with the manufacturing industry,” Nick said. “I’m looking forward to meeting all of our clients as soon as possible.”

Bill Roebuck, who has been responsible for the editorial content of MRO since it was launched 18 years ago, takes on additional responsibilities for marketing, research and other non-direct sales activities at the magazine, while remaining as its chief Editor. He also remains Editor of CEEN, Industrial Lubrication and mro-esource.com.

“Considering his previous experience with MRO, both readers and advertisers will see continuity and stability in the group,” Bill said.

The appointments followed the resignation of former Publisher Peter Helston, who stepped down after returning from a vacation in Japan two weeks ago. He was the founding publisher, along with co-publisher Victor Zellermeyer, when the magazine was launched in December 1985. Peter had previously left MRO magazine for a couple of years, returning to the publisher’s chair 10 years ago. Victor now operates a printing business in Vancouver.

Machinery & Equipment MRO is currently owned by the Business Information Group of Hollinger Canadian Newspapers L.P., formerly the Southam Magazine & Information Group. The group remains one of the major Canadian holdings of publishing icon Sir Conrad Black.

“Despite this change at the helm, continuity is provided by myself and sales representative Gord Kennedy, who has been with our publications for the past two-and-a-half years,” said Bill.

“At Machinery & Equipment MRO, we’re in our 18th year of publishing a dynamic magazine for maintenance, repair and operations people in industry across Canada,” he added. “We have and will continue to serve machinery and equipment builders and suppliers with solid, targetted products that readers pay attention to issue after issue.”

The products include the magazine’s web site, www.mro-esource.com, which features MRO’s exclusive Product Locator Guide, as well as supplementary publications.

“We didn’t become an award-winning magazine by coincidence,” Bill noted. (Roebuck is the recipient of 13 Kenneth R. Wilson Memorial Awards for editorial excellence, as well as other honours.) “It has been through hard work and dedication by a team of publishing experts with a clear knowledge of our market,” he said. “Our team includes dedicated professionals in editorial, sales, management, circulation, printing, production, reader service and advertiser support.”

Machinery & Equipment MRO recently announced the creation of two new supplements — Canadian Electrical Equipment News (CEEN) and Industrial Lubrication magazines.
