Zuhai, China — MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, has received a Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Maintenance Organization Certificate. The maintenance certificate authorizes the company to provide repair and overhaul services for the V2500-A1/A5 and special operation for NDT, welding, plasma spray, plating and heat treatment. In addition the company is in the process to receive the FAA Certificate as well.

Joined by more than 200 staff members, an announcement and brief ceremony was held at the company’s state of the art facility. During this time, Yang Xinguo, CAAC’s director of aircraft airworthiness division of the Central & South Regional Administration, handed over the maintenance organization certificate to MTU Maintenance Zhuhai’s president and CEO, Walter Strakosch. This marked a new milestone in the young history of the company, which only three months prior completed the construction of its maintenance shop.

MTU Maintenance Zhuhai is a 50-50 joint venture between MTU Aero Engines (a division of DaimlerChrysler) and China Southern Airlines. Covering an area of 156,000 sq m, the facility is equipped with advanced equipment for the maintenance services required by Chinese and Asian customers.

Walter Strakosch stated, “this is the first time an airworthiness authority has audited our com-pany and the first time an aero engine overhaul and repair shop of this size has been audited in China.”
