Burnaby, BC — Mar. 10, 2003 — Gary Hill has been appointed vice-president, sales and marketing, at BC Bearing Engineers Limited. He has more than 30 years of experience in the bearing and power transmission industry and most recently was vice-president, sales.

“Hill will draw upon his strengths and years of experience as he leads the tighter integration of these two key functional areas to further support our strategic initiatives," said Robert S. MacPherson, president and chief executive officer.

Born in Saskatchewan, Hill moved to B.C. in 1948 and joined the company in 1973. Based in Prince George for over 10 years, Hill left his position as regional sales manager and moved to the Vancouver area in 1984, taking on the role of sales manager BC operations. In 1988, he was promoted to vice-president sales for Canada.

Wendy Penny Omns has been named vice-president, external affairs and corporate relations. As a company focused throughout the Americas with numerous key suppliers that are internationally based, this newly created position will complement the efforts of the chairman, and the president and CEO, on a global nature in terms of supplier relations, major customer relations, and public policy.

"Liaising with the various divisions of the company and the various international offices of the company’s key suppliers will ensure consistent global communication throughout the supply channel," said MacPherson.

Omns has worked in the family business for over 32 years, serving in various capacities throughout her career, most recently as vice-president of marketing and human resources. She launched the marketing department in 1987 and later, in 1998, added the human resources portfolio to her responsibilities.

She has served in various volunteer capacities throughout her career, is a past president of the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) and is a past chairman of the British Columbia Mining Suppliers, Contractors and Consultants Association.

"The strength of the company is, and will continue to be, in its people including the management team," added MacPherson.

BC Bearing Engineers Limited, the Canadian operating division of The BC Bearing Group, was founded in 1944 and is an ISO 9002-94 certified industrial distributor of bearings and power transmission components. With consolidated sales in excess of C$150 million and 50 locations in Canada, Mexico, Chile and the U.S. it serves customers in such markets as forestry, mining, food processing, agriculture, petrochemicals, high technology and many others.
