Toronto, ON — Oct. 18, 2002 — There was plenty of action on the show floor at Canadian Manufacturing Week (CMW), which took place Sept. 24 to 26, 2002, at Toronto’s International Centre. A busy three days at the show confirmed that the industry is ramping up, according to show organizer Reed Exhibitions Canada of Toronto.

CMW, a broad-based industrial manufacturing trade event, featured the latest products, services, innovations and technology for manufacturing processes ranging from logistics to plant maintenance. The success of the show illustrates recent statistics, which have shown growth across the manufacturing sector in recent months, said Reed.

Exhibitors and attendees at CMW found the event to be a valuable resource for making business contacts. Over 750 companies were represented by exhibitors at this year’s show. “Despite the fact that companies have been working hard to keep their heads above water, CMW 2002 had almost 99 per cent of the number of attendees in 2000,” said Elaine Harris, group show manager at Reed.

Considering the change in economic conditions since the last CMW, the unofficial attendance figures of 5,800 visitors at this year’s show (compared to 5,882 in 2000) is encouraging not only for the show producers, but for the manufacturing industry.

Post-show attendee surveys provided positive feedback. Attendees stated that their primary reasons for attending the show are to get information on new products and services, to seek out new suppliers and to network with colleagues. According to Art Wanuch of MC Lights, CMW was “a great opportunity to refresh contacts and keep pace with what is new in the industry. The show also provides decision-makers with the opportunity to source products and compare suppliers, all under one roof.

“We found two pieces of equipment we were looking for,” said Carroll Macintosh or Evergreen Juices Inc.

Canadian Manufacturing Week 2004 will take place Sept. 28-30, 2004, again at the International Centre. For more information on CMW, contact Shelley Sougaris at 416-848-239 or 888-322-7333, ext. 239, or visit the show website, www.cmwshow.ca.
