Hamburg, Germany — Oct. 15, 2002 — Hal Heule, America West’s senior vice-president of technical operations, was honoured recently at an industry conference in Hamburg, Germany, as the recipient of the Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) safety award.
The award, sponsored by Aviation Week and Overhaul & Maintenance magazines, recognizes individuals within the aviation/aerospace industry who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to safety.
“This award is a wonderful recognition for the individual job Hal has done,” said Jeff McClelland, executive vice-president, operations. “And Hal would be the first to say it is really a reflection on the terrific turnaround made by the entire maintenance team at America West.”
Heule, who joined America West in December 2000, was noted for his efforts in the maintenance and engineering division. He was instrumental in reorganizing the division, building up internal resources and focusing the division on proactive maintenance planning, reliability and quality.
America West Airlines is the largest low-fare, hub-and-spoke airline in the United States, its eighth-largest carrier, and serves 89 destinations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
