Toronto, ON — Sept. 17, 2002 — Two new feature sections have been added to Canadian Manufacturing Week (CMW), taking place in at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ont., Sept. 24-26, 2002. With the new features, the event will provide manufacturing and industrial buying teams with a full spectrum of technology, products, ideas, solutions and innovations to meet requirements for all aspects of their operations.

CMW is a comprehensive trade event connecting decision-makers with a wide range of solutions to move their operations to the next level of competitiveness. The three-day event consists of three co-located shows: Canadian Plant Maintenance & Engineering, Canadian Design Engineering and Canadian Facility Management & Operations.

The Canadian Plant Engineering & Maintenance Show is Canada’s major source of solutions for the maintenance, repair, overhaul and operation of electrical and mechanical machinery, components, and equipment.

The Canadian Design Engineering Show will offer a comprehensive display of design engineering in Canada and was created specifically for engineers and OEMs looking for ideas, technology and business partners to move their projects forward.

The Canadian Facility Management & Operations Show presents products and supplies for the operation and maintenance of manufacturing plants, institutional buildings and municipal facilities.

The new feature sections: Can-Mat — Canadian Materials Handling & Warehouse Equipment, and ITS — Industry IT & Software, will be located at the Hall 3 entrance to the show floor.

Can-Mat is a new exhibition section for industry professionals looking to find cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing solutions for the supply chain. CAN-MAT features the latest equipment for materials handling, warehousing and product distribution. Some of the major exhibits on display will include conveying equipment, automated storage systems, overhead & positioning equipment, automatic identification products, weighing and counting equipment, loading docks and powered industrial trucks.

ITS is the first feature section dedicated to IT and software solutions for industry at a major manufacturing event in Canada. Leading technology, products and services on display will include B2B technology and systems, procurement management, networking solutions, inventory control, ERP, CRM, bar coding systems, e-business solutions, preventive and predictive maintenance, benchmarking and supply chain management solutions.

More than 400 international exhibitors and suppliers are expected to exhibit.

Educational programs

“The event features a comprehensive educational program that adds value to the show experience,” says assistant show manager Shelley Sougaris. “Attendees can pre-register for seminars presented by leading industry professionals on topics such as Lean Production, Lean Logistics and Hydraulic and Pneumatic Troubleshooting. Participants will learn how to reduce costs, improve quality, reduce lead times and make their processes and organizations more efficient.”

In addition to these workshops, attendees can also attend free Exhibitor Seminars and Technical Information & Product Sessions (T.I.P.S.) that will be presented on the T.I.P.S. stage on the show floor; and Exhibitor Presentations that will be held in a separate classroom.

Canadian Manufacturing Week 2002 is sponsored by the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA), Canadian Association of Supply Chain & Logistics Management (SCL), and the Canadian Fluid Power Association (CFPA).

The SCL will present a supply chain symposium at CMW for registered attendees. The symposium, entitled Lean Logistics, will teach participants how to take lean principles to the next level of achievement by applying them to the supply chain.
