Mississauga, ON — Aug. 15, 2002 — Hemosol Inc., an integrated biopharmaceutical company, has chosen an enterprise asset management (EAM) solution for its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility currently nearing completion in Mississauga, Ont.
Hemosol chose Indus InSite, an Internet-based asset management solution, to optimize maintenance of its commercial-scale, $90-million Meadowpine facility.
Meadowpine will be the first fully operational manufacturing facility of this scale in the industry to produce oxygen therapeutics. By early 2003, the facility will be producing Hemolink, the first of Hemosol’s human hemoglobin-derived therapeutics to be manufactured on an industrial level.
“The new Meadowpine facilities are truly state-of-the-art and provide us with an entirely new range of capabilities, which is why we chose an asset management solution which is also state-of-the-art,” said Alex Stewart, director of logistics and information technology for Hemosol. The facility encompasses 120,000 sq ft of space.
“InSite’s intuitive interface, configurable workflows, and business intelligence features will make our maintenance processes more automated and therefore help us maintain regulatory compliance.”
John Rydall, director of manufacturing at Hemosol, said, “As we expand our production at Meadowpine and perhaps build additional facilities, the hosted model of the InSite solution will help us reduce pressure on our IT resources and adapt to our changing system needs — without the hassles and expense of upgrading our in-house computers. This will be a huge help to us as we continue to expand into global markets.”
