Kitchener, ON — June 13, 2002 — Rob Ellis, an outspoken activist for workplace safety, today addressed members of the Safe Communities of Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex.
In February 1999, Ellis, a small business owner and father of four, lost his 18-year-old son David in a workplace accident. David died after becoming entangled in a dough mixer at a bakery. He was on his second day of a temporary job.
To honour the memory of his son, Rob Ellis speaks to students, parents, unions and businesses about the importance of workplace safety and accident prevention.
Ellis was a key spokesperson for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board’s Safety Starts With You workplace safety campaign. His commitment to this cause has him taking his message to receptive audiences across the province.
