Toronto, ON — Apr. 6, 2002 — A browse through the Saturday, April 6, newspapers reveals a pair of interesting maintenance jobs some readers may want to consider.

Linamar Corporation, a manufacturer of precision machining equipment based in Guelph, Ont., that employs over 8,000 people worldwide, is looking for a Maintenance Manager for its Invar Manufacturing subsidiary in Batawa, Ont.

The position reports to the Plant Manager, and its responsibilities include maintaining machines and equipment by directing a department of maintenance technicians, managing day-to-day-operations of the maintenance department, budgeting, ensuring QS9000 compliance, and managing a preventive maintenance program.

The company seeks a candidate with three to five years of experience as a manager in an industrial setting using a hands-on management approach, leadership skills and a working knowledge of fundamental machine shop equipment and practices, including CNC machining.

The job requires a relevant technical certificate, eight to 10 years current experience in aircraft maintenance, experience with planning and budgeting, knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, and conflict resolution and contract negotiating skills.
