Stratford, ON — March 4, 2002 — FAG Production Systems GmbH is now represented in North America. FAG Production Systems specializes in the conception, construction and supply of complete production systems. Its capabilities include grinding and honing machines, mounting systems, measurement and inspection technology as well as tools and related services. Tool manufacturing is the main field of activity of PS in Stratford.

The wholly owned subsidiary of the FAG holding company, located in Schweinfurt, Germany, has expanded to Stratford in an effort to become a worldwide supplier for the entire precision industry, a spokesman said.

Operations of PS North America started January 1, 2002, and an official opening ceremony recently took place at the existing FAG plant in Stratford, Ont. PS North America moved into its own premises in a refurbished hall near other FAG facilities in the community.

Dr. Martin Kunzmann, the responsible FAG holding board member, pointed to the excellent development of Production Systems GmbH since its foundation in January 2000. Employing a total staff of nearly 200, the company had sales of roughly 36 million in 2001 a 30% increase over the previous year. “With its bases in Germany, Spain and now also in Canada, PS has developed into a worldwide operating company,” said Kunzmann.

Murray Meadows has been appointed general manager of the new PS division. Having worked with FAG for 25 years, one of his previous functions was as production manager at FAG Automotive in Joplin, USA.

PS North America has a staff of 49, including seven tool designers. Its development department and production area are located at the FAG Automotive plant in Stratford. The facilities include a tapered roller bearing manufacturing cell that was designed and constructed by Production Systems.
