Canton, OH — March 1, 2001 — Continuing to expand the development of site functionality on PTplace.com, The Timken Company has now linked bearing repair status to the Timken Store at PTplace.com.
“Now our distributors can save time and check the status of their bearing repair right on the Internet,” said Guy E. Woit, manager – industrial services. “Distributors can find out if their bearings have been inspected, are waiting for approval, are in process with an estimated ship date, or have been shipped.”
Timken Industrial Services offers a wide variety of value-added customer solutions for bearings and related parts, including inspection and repair, in an effort to maximize bearing life and help reduce customers’ overall operating costs. The bearing repair status online is one of three newly added functions on The Timken Store at PTplace.com.
Also recently added is an upload feature allowing distributors to enter their bearing order via spreadsheet or comma- separated (.CSV) file as well as a tool providing assembly explosions for Timken products.
“Our upload feature is a big step forward in automating the ordering process for our distributors,” said Scott G. Biltz, global manager – E-business integration. “The new functionality avoids double entry and imports multiple line-item orders quickly, easily and accurately.”
PTplace.com is an online shopping mall for industrial components. The E-business venture is powered by CoLinx, LLC, an independent limited liability company equally owned by four founding companies:Timken, INA Holding Schaeffler KG, Rockwell Automation and SKF Group.
In January, the organization launched a Canadian version of the website at www.PTplace.ca.
