Toronto, ON — Feb. 5, 2002 — Petro-Canada’s Hydrex Hydraulic Fluids product line has won the 2002 Lubricants World magazine Industrial Product of the Year Award. The annual award recognizes products that demonstrate technological innovation and efficiency in the field of industrial lubrication.
“Hydrex was chosen because of its use of Petro-Canada’s highly pure basestocks and special additive formulation to provide outstanding oxidation stability and wear protection, promoting long life and cost-efficiency for users,” said Kathryn Carnes, editor-in-chief, Lubricants World. “Petro-Canada’s Total Wear Protection formulation advances the development of products used in this increasingly demanding application.”
The Total Wear Protection formulation was developed in response to the growing need to keep equipment working harder, faster and longer, says Petro-Canada. The formulation starts with a patented HT purity process to produce crystal clear 99.9 % pure base oils — the purest in the world. It is then blended with next-generation additives for longer lasting fluid and superior wear protection.
“Hydraulic oils are often taken for granted, but our research has shown that they can greatly impact the performance and durability of operating equipment” said Brenda Jones, category manager, hydraulics, Petro-Canada.
The ASTM D943 Standard Test for oxidation stability shows that Hydrex resists degradation over three times longer than a leading North American competitor. The Vickers 35VQ25 Hydraulic Pump Wear Test demonstrated that Hydrex offers more than double the wear protection versus a leading North American competitor.
