Charlotte, NC — Jan. 14, 2002 — Goodrich Corporation’s Garlock Sealing Technologies has formed a marketing alliance with Transcom Inc. (TCM) of Burnsville, MN. The alliance unites the strengths of the two companies’ existing portfolios of oil seal and bearing isolator products. Combined, the companies can offer customers nearly 30,000 part numbers with well over 12 million seals, providing a single source alternative in the oil seal marketplace.
According to John Thompson, president, Garlock Sealing Technologies, “The alliance associates Garlock with large Klozure oil seals and bearing isolators and TCM with small bore oil seals.” John Rice, President, Transcom Inc. added, “Our customers now have a choice of inch, metric, lip or labyrinth seals.”
Garlock Sealing Technologies produces and markets fluid sealing devices that prevent leakage and keep rotating and reciprocating machinery free of contaminants. Garlock products can seal joints exposed to high temperatures and corrosive environments. Garlock products protect equipment in industry applications where performance is vital to addressing safety and environmental concerns, including petroleum refining, construction, water and waste treatment and power generation.
TCM has one of the largest offerings of metric seals in North America, as well as the widest competitive range of radial lip seal inch interchanges to other manufacturers. The TCM AP series exclusion product line is a patented solution to heavy contamination problems. TCM products are used in automotive, motorcycle, agricultural and industrial equipment applications.
Eighty per cent of Garlock’s sales are from the maintenance and replacement market, while TCM divides its customers almost equally between OEM and service markets. Both TCM and Garlock products are sold worldwide through authorized distributors and agents, supported by sales and engineering field personnel.
