St. John’s, Nfld. — Nov. 29, 2001 — The North Atlantic Refining Ltd. oil refinery at Come-By-Chance, Nfld., is to restart operations today after a six-week maintenance shutdown. During the planned shutdown, the facility spent C$14 million on annual maintenance procedures and equipment replacements.

Full production of 100,000 barrels of petroleum products a day is expected to resume within a week. The refinery produces home heating oil, gasoline, jet fuel, diesel and other products for markets in 25 countries.

The company is owned by Vitol SA of London, England.
