An optional pre-conference workshop will take place on Nov. 14. Both events are organized by the Canadian Institute of Toronto.
The conference takes place at the same time as MRO Expo and the International Maintenance Conference and Workshops at the World Congress Centre in Toronto on Nov. 14-15, 2001, but may appeal to those in western Canada who are unable to travel to Ontario for this event. Details on MRO Expo are available at www.reedexpo.ca/mroexpo or by calling 1-800-322-7333 or 416-491-7565.
The symposium intends to provide case studies and information from on-the-job experts, including NASA and Esso-Imperial Oil. Topics covered are expected to include: coping with labour shortages and diverse training needs; meeting new standards for safety under changes to the Alberta regulations; implementing successful behavioural-based safety programs; and using RCM to cut costs and integrate RCM and RBI practices.
As well, subjects are to include: planning and scheduling in a high-pressure production environment; getting more out of SAP and CMMS software; ensuring maintenance needs are incorporated into the design of new plants; extending equipment life and improving performance; and deploying successful plant benchmarking programs.
In addition, registrants can attend a special pre-conference workshop on how to handle public relations and stakeholder duties in the local community.
The event has been endorsed by the Plant Engineering & Maintenance Association of Canada, whose members can receive a 10 per cent discount on the registration fee.
The cost for the conference is C$1,599; including the workshop it is C$2,099. GST applies.
Registration information can be obtained by calling 1-877-927-7936 or 416-927-7936. Although on-line registration was not available at press time, the company says a brochure and registration form will eventually be posted at www.canadianinstitute.com.
