June 29, 2001 — A new market study of AC drives by Motion Tech Trends of Inglewood, Calif., indicates that the market in North America is maturing, predicts further consolidation among manufacturers and in distribution channels, and forecasts an increase in the use of e-commerce in the marketing of AC drives.
The study, “North American Market for AC Drives, 2001-2006,” predicts unit growth in the AC drives market in excess of five per cent over the five-year period. It also notes that both users and OEMs have replaced many brush DC motor and drive applications with sensorless vector and field-oriented, controlled AC drives and motors. In particular, the report notes, material handling and machine control applications have benefitted from the use of AC drives.
The report adds that AC drives are being used more because of their efficiency and performance, comparable costs, reduced maintenance expenses, and reliability.
The Market Analysis & Forecast section of the study includes an overview of the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and covers market trends by AC drive category, technology, geographical segments in the U.S., and by industry sectors.
The report sells for US$3,900, plus shipping and handling of US$75.00 in North America. Further details can be found at www.mttusa.com or by calling 310-674-3445. Please note that the report itself has not been reviewed by the editors of mro-esource.com.
