MELBOURNE, Fla.

More than 1,300 Floridians registered to attend today’s Harris Corporation Career Fair – part of the company’s effort to hire 300 new technical and other open positions at its Brevard County, Florida, operations. Harris is one of Florida’s largest technology-based companies, with about 6,000 employees working in 21 facilities throughout the state.

“We are excited to be adding 300 new positions to our already significant presence in Florida,” said William M. Brown, chairman, president and chief executive officer. “We have a 65-year legacy as a global center for innovation here and are anxious to attract the best and brightest in Florida to enhance our ability to introduce technology that connects, informs and protects the world.”

Harris is seeking to fill new engineering, finance and supply chain positions to support its Electronic Systems, Critical Networks, and Space and Intelligence Systems segments. The technical openings are for experienced software, mechanical and electrical engineers who will work on a variety of important programs that the company supports in public safety, air traffic management, weather, space, cyber and electronic warfare. The finance and supply chain openings will support many of these same programs.

The company’s hiring, which supports the state’s goal of expanding job growth and attracting high paying positions to the region, drew strong praise from state and local officials.

“Pro-growth policies spur job creation, and the Florida Legislature is dedicated to creating a climate of opportunity so every Floridian who wants a job can find one,” said Florida House Speaker Steve Crisafulli, R-Merritt Island.

“Harris is one of the state’s strongest technology companies and it is great to see Florida companies hiring and seeking highly qualified candidates,” said Florida Rep. Ritch Workman, R-Melbourne.

“I am happy that Harris is seeking to hire 300 people in Florida, which will improve the state’s economy, put people to work and help the company in support of public safety, national security, space exploration and more,” said Florida Sen. Thad Altman, R-Melbourne.

The Harris Brevard County Career Fair is being held at the Harris Technology Center in Palm Bay from noon to 6 p.m. Candidates are able to engage with Harris representatives to discuss the breadth of available positions and career opportunities and conduct on-site interviews.
