Mississauga, ON – Roop Lutchman, leader of GHD’s business consulting team in North America, has recently received the Life Membership award from the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC). This membership recognizes his contribution to PEMAC, which provides leadership, education and certification in world class maintenance and asset management practices in Canada.

The Life Membership award is granted by PEMAC upon a member’s retirement from a formal leadership position within the association and recognizes the member’s contribution to PEMAC, and by extension their contribution to the maintenance and asset management profession.

Lutchman has been active with PEMAC since its inception,n serving continuously on the Board of Directors until February of 2013, playing an active part in the development of the MMP program, and acting as an early instructor of that program. He was registrar and chair of the Education and Professional Development Committee until recently and remains active as a member of that committee.

The MMP program is offered through 15 colleges and two universities, and helps maintenance managers and supervisors undertake the cost effective management of an organization’s physical assets.

Lutchman has developed a career as a very successful asset management consultant with increasing business responsibilities. In recent years his focus has been on helping cities to better manage municipal infrastructure assets and in that capacity he has become well known by asset management practitioners with leading municipalities across the Americas.

He has been instrumental in helping PEMAC make the transition into promoting excellence in asset management and was the lead instructor in the association’s first offering of the new workshop ‘Introduction to Asset Management for Senior Leaders’.

Lutchman describes his commitment to PEMAC as a ‘win-win’ situation for the organization’s members, GHD and himself. “PEMAC has enabled me to give something back to the maintenance and asset management profession and the broader community,” he said. “It has given me a platform to share my knowledge with other practitioners, and broadened my insights into the profession and my role at GHD. It has also enabled me to contribute to shaping Canada’s maintenance and asset management practices.

“I look forward to continuing my involvement with PEMAC, particularly as the organization extends its services to offer the Asset Management Professional (AMP) certification program through colleges and universities in Canada.”

In Canada, GHD has more than 250 employees across three offices located in Whitby, Markham and Mississauga, and a global network of over 6,000 people. The company works in the markets of water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings, transportation, and business consulting.
