Brampton, ON – Caster manufacturer Algood Caster Innovations is marking its 45th anniversary with some big changes. On July 7, it moved into a new 60,000 square foot facility in Brampton, ON.

Algood has invested over $1 million in the new location. The result is better integration of its in-house manufacturing operations, including injection moulding and metal stamping, while keeping its engineering and die-making departments in close proximity to production.

In all, over 2,000 rack spaces have been created; over 70 T5 light fixtures have been installed; and thousands of feet of wiring have been laid in this facility, which will allow Algood to double its manufacturing output.

“This is an indication of our incredible commitment to North American caster manufacturing and meeting the needs of our customers. We’re putting our money where our mouth is,” said Algood president Craig Guttmann.

Earlier this year, the company changed its name from Algood Casters Limited to Algood Caster Innovations. “The new name reflects our strength in customizing caster solutions and being industry leaders in bringing new products to the market,” said Guttmann.

Algood also added the tag line, ‘A New Generation of Castersmiths’ as an indication of “the way it combines technology and modern manufacturing methods with craftsmanship and product quality,” he added

The company was founded in 1969 by Craig’s father Max and has grown ever since. Algood weathered the most recent economic downturn by finding efficiencies its manufacturing operations and is now experiencing double-digit growth. It boasts a customer list that includes leading corporations in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

At a time when many North American manufacturers are struggling and seeking offshore solutions, Algood is banking its future on its in-house production capability. Guttmann said, “In 2008, we decided to put our efforts into this operation and to re-imagine what we do here.” In its anniversary year that vision is clearly becoming a reality at Algood.
