Sumitomo Gets Vp for Large Industrial Business Unit

Joseph Sitta has joined Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA) as vice-president of its Large Industrial Business Unit, based in Chesapeake, Va., which includes primary responsibility for the Paramax product line. The line consists of industrial gearboxes in universal housings.

Sitta is a veteran of the power transmission industry, having spent about 20 years with Illinois Tool Works, Regal Beloit Corporation and most recently, Flender Corporation. His work has included engineering management, applications engineering and sales.

An active member of AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers Association) for 22 years, Sitta has served on several technical standards committees and is currently serving on the marketing council committee. He is preceded by his father, Stan Sitta, who served AGMA in 1982-1983 as president.

Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA) is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd. (SHI), one of the largest manufacturers of machinery in Japan. The company’s core strength lies with its Cyclo speed reducer, which has over seven million installations worldwide.
