Fabtech Canada visitors saw more than 150 new products

Toronto – The results from the recent Fabtech Canada trade show, which took place March 18-20, 2014, at the Toronto Congress Centre, have been revealed. The event was hosted by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association International (FMA), the American Welding Society (AWS), the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), and the Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI).

Significantly expanded in size and scope from the previous event, the show was geared towards the needs of Canada’s estimated 1.5 million manufacturing employees in industries ranging from automotive and energy to transportation and construction, as well as businesses that either produce or rely on equipment and machinery in their day-to-day operations, said Janine Saperson, event manager of SME.

SME reports that total attendance (including visitors and exhibitors) was 6,489, with a total buyer attendance of 4,355. Visitors attended from eight provinces in Canada and from a few border states in the US.

More than 150 new products (50% more than the last Fabtech show in 2012) were displayed.

Other statistics from the 2014 event include:

- 59% of attendees had never been to another Fabtech Canada event

- 40% of attendees spent five or more hours on the show floor

- 86% of attendees were either satisfied or very satisfied with Fabtech Canada overall

- 89% of attendees said that the value received compared to the time and money spent met or exceeded their expectations

- 84% of attendees had a buying influence audience profile.

The top reasons attendees visited Fabtech Canada were to see/evaluate new products and technology (87%) and to find new suppliers (78%). A total of 75% of Fabtech Canada attendees had a role in buying: Evaluate/Recommend (45%), Approve Purchases (25%) or Specify Suppliers (5%).

“I went to meet with specific companies and get a broad view of other laser and cutting suppliers. The show allowed me to meet up with these people,” said Chuck Hayes of Swagelok.

“It gave us a huge understanding of what was out there that would help our company in future years,” noted visitor Charles Bell of Kelowna Flightcraft.

“Outstanding value. Well-organized and professionally run. Good displays of equipment and tools plus the chance to witness equipment ‘at work’,” commented visitor Blake Simpson of Tip Top Trimming.

“The lead and sales results from the show were fantastic. We developed many tremendous contacts and opportunities that have already resulted in enough closed sales to repay our investment in the show,” enthused exhibitor Ted Kaszuba of Ergotech Inc.

“Good Attendance and the quality of leads were good,” commented exhibitor Karl Elliott of Tsubaki of Canada Ltd.

The next Fabtech Canada will take place in 2016.
