Fort McMurray, AB — North Safety Products of Montreal has been conducting a pilot project for the past year where a training trailer was installed and staffed by the company’s PPE (personal protective equipment) trainers on-site at one of the mining company properties at the tar sands project in Fort McMurray, Alta.

The mining firm’s contractors and subcontractors are now sending their employees daily to this conveniently located training facility — the first of a kind for this remote area. More than 20,000 workers will be needed in the next five years in Northern Alberta and they will all need to be trained on PPE.

North trainers developed a special curriculum in the applications for fall protection and confined space. North Safety trainers are also expert in other areas of PPE.
