Cooling tower is designed for low maintenance, energy use

Berg Chilling Systems has introduced a line of heavy-duty cooling towers designed for long life and low maintenance. These single- and dual-cell towers come fully assembled, ready to install, and include quiet, low-speed propeller fans that use low horsepower without belts or gear reducers. Extra-thick glass-fibre assures low-cost energy use. Stainless steel internal framing and hardware are featured for long life and virtually no maintenance. The towers contain a one-piece water distributor with no moving parts and a non-clogging design.

Chip conveyor manufacturing facility opens in Windsor

Uni-Fab, a southwestern Ontario metal fabricator of electrical enclosures and machine guarding, has launched a separate division to expand its manufacturing capabilities for hinged steel belt conveyors. The new firm, Master Conveyors, is located in Oldcastle, Ont., just outside Windsor, and claims to be the only Canadian manufacturer of complete chip conveyor systems. Initially, the firm will custom design and manufacture 2.5-in. pitch systems with features such as high carbon steel tracks, sealed bearings and heavy-duty motors and reducers. Additional sizes will follow. The product line will be designated ChipMaster. Master Conveyors decided to remain in the Windsor area because the location allows the company to offer fast service to the metalworking industry throughout Ontario while also providing quick access to U.S. markets.

Oil-free air compressor needs little downtime

Gardner Denver has announced the availability of the GD-Turbo, a line of multi-stage, oil-free centrifugal air compressors that integrate aerodynamic patterns for impellers and diffusers. The compressors have an operating range of up to 45% turndown at constant pressure. Downtime and maintenance savings are achieved through a horizontally split gear box, allowing ease of inspection and servicing without the need for disassembly, and non-wearing labyrinth air/oil seals. Intercoolers can be serviced and cleaned without service interruption.

Damper’s aperture can be adjusted for accurate air balancing

The Iris damper from Continental Fan Manufacturing permits airflow to be adjusted and measured at one location, resulting in reduced field time and improved accuracy in air balancing. The damper uses interlocking steel plates and a calibrated control lever to form an adjustable aperture. By measuring differential pressure across the pressure ports and referring to the matching performance curve, airflow can be determined precisely.
