The Power Transmission Distributors Association held a very successful convention at the end of October. The event, which was held in Hawaii, focused on the power of the end user.

Seminars detailed how to meet customer demands in a changing world. Also covered were e-business realities and strengthening the small independent distributor in this era of consolidation. The convention was overseen by Penny Omns, president of PTDA and vice-president of BC Bearing Engineers of Burnaby, B.C. At the end of the convention, Omns passed the torch to incoming PTDA president, Kevin McCloskey of Dodge-Newark Supply of Fairfield, N.J.

The Canadian PT industry said farewell to Brian Eidem, president of B & T Ltd. and his wife Lina, of Saskatoon, Sask., at the PTDA annual meeting. Eidem was retiring on his return to Saskatoon from the convention.

He has been a major influence in Canada’s bearing and power transmission business. Eidem’s company won the 1992 Power Transmission Distributor of the Year Award from Machinery & Equipment MRO magazine. He also served a term as president of PTDA.
