Measurement products group reorganizes

TechniCal Systems, a distributor of instrumentation products based in Hamilton, Ont., has added new products to its line, thanks to the acquisition by Texas-based Measurement Technologies of the measurement products group of Hathaway Process Instrumentation. Included within this acquisition are Hathaway’s previously acquired line of power transducers and related instrumentation from Wodex Technology and signal conditioning and process transmitter product line from Promac Controls, both of Toronto. The products now bear the mTech logo.

Adaptor connects ultrasonic detector to grease gun

Lubrication needs can be trended digitally by connecting an SDT ultrasonic detector to any standard grease gun. Designed for use with the Ultrawave 170 system, the Acoustic Lube Adaptor protects against over- and under-greasing, two of the most common culprits of bearing failures. Acoustic Vibration Monitoring (AVM) uses high-frequency fault detection to determine early breakdown in viscosity. The Lube Adaptor goes on from there to tell oilers when to stop greasing, to avoid over-greasing. It listens to the high-frequency vibrations as the grease hits the bearing. As soon as the bearing is quiet, the technician knows to stop greasing and take another ultrasonic measurement.
