Date: Wednesday, Nov 18, 2015     Time: 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Location: The Bow Valley Club, Calgary, AB

Topic:
Remaining Life Assessment for Aging Assets

Guest Speaker: Pierre Du Plessis, Mechanical Engineering Advisor, Upstream at Suncor Energy Inc.

How long are we likely to live and how can we extend our lives while being healthy and productive? Each one of us ponder upon this question at some point in our lives. The same question applies to major equipment such as cokers in the oil industry. The presentation takes us through the coker remaining life assessment during the last 13 years at Suncor’s Upgrader in the oil Sands, and also what was done and accomplished in extending the life of the cokers significantly. Industry experience was reviewed, consultants were engaged, state of the art monitoring instruments were installed, fatigue tests were performed, and research was done to develop a strategy for life extension of the cokers. The work was awarded the Suncor’s President’s Operational Excellence Award (POEA) in 2012.

Space is limited. For details about the event including the complete agenda, and to register click here.
