SKF bolsters its Solution Factory initiative with acquisition of Hofmann Engineering NA

Toronto - SKF Canada Ltd. of Toronto and Hofmann Engineering of Perth, Australia, together with other minority owners, have entered into agreement that SKF acquire Hofmann Engineering North America, based in Cambridge, ON.


Toronto – SKF Canada Ltd. of Toronto and Hofmann Engineering of Perth, Australia, together with other minority owners, have entered into agreement that SKF acquire Hofmann Engineering North America, based in Cambridge, ON.

“Hofmann Engineering North America is a great fit with our strategy and activities,” said Dan Reed, president of SKF Regional Sales and Service, North America. “They have a strong product and service portfolio and skilled staff. The complementary nature of their products and technologies will enable us to even better serve our customers in the industrial market in North America.”

Hofmann Engineering North America is a high-precision machining operation located in Cambridge in a 50,000 sq. ft. facility with 16 employees. It is currently servicing mainly OEM customers handling large components. Main offers include large pinion and gear solutions, precision grinding and custom engineering projects.

This acquisition will add to current SKF Solution Factory capabilities. SKF Solution Factories is a global SKF initiative to bring people, services and technology together to deliver custom solutions. The acquisition will enable SKF to:

− better serve customers in primarily mining, metals and pulp and paper industries in North America with a more complete product and service portfolio

− expand current offers of customized engineering projects to allow customers to improve asset performance.
